Tomoegawa Corporation to Cease Domestic Insulating Paper Production at Shizuoka Plant by March 2027
Tomoegawa Corporation, established in Shizuoka City in 1914, announced it will stop producing insulating paper and heat-resistant insulating paper at its Shizuoka Plant by the end of March 2027, marking its exit from domestic paper manufacturing. This strategic decision is driven by rising raw material costs, including pulp and chemicals, alongside increasing logistics expenses, prompting structural reforms in its paper manufacturing operations. Despite withdrawing from domestic production, Tomoegawa plans to maintain the production and sale of insulating paper through its local subsidiary in India. The company, with over a century of history as a pioneer in electrical insulation paper in Japan, will focus on its global strategy and international market presence moving forward.
