Saica Group Unveils Biomass Boiler in France, Accelerating Site's Energy Transition
Saica Group, a leading European manufacturer of recycled paper for corrugated cardboard and sustainable packaging, inaugurated a new biomass boiler at its Champblain-Laveyron site in France on September 19, 2025. This marks a key milestone in the company’s environmental modernization project. The new boiler uses mainly locally sourced, end-of-life wood within 100 km, embodying Saica’s circular economy commitment. Supported by ADEME’s 2019 BCIAT program, the biomass installation replaces natural gas boilers, reducing fossil fuel emissions by 60%, natural gas consumption by 77%, and landfill paper by-products by 90%. This shift reinforces Saica’s leadership in sustainability, enabling the Champblain site to become a European benchmark in energy efficiency and environmental performance. With an investment of €174 million in industrial modernization, Saica demonstrates that sustainable competitiveness and local value creation can go hand-in-hand.
