Lumene’s 24 Nordic Beauty Secrets Advent Calendar Wins Carton of the Year with Metsä Board Collaboration

Lumene’s 2024 Beauty Advent Calendar has been honored with the prestigious Carton of the Year title at the European Carton Excellence Awards held in Istanbul, Turkey, on September 18, 2025. The award recognizes outstanding achievements in packaging design, sustainability, and user experience. The calendar was designed by Metsä Board’s packaging design team and manufactured by VG Kvadra Pak, part of the Van Genechten Packaging Group. The advent calendar features a unique hexagonal tray inspired by the traditional Nordic Advent Wreath, containing 24 spiral-arranged puzzle boxes of varying heights. Each box is precisely crafted to optimize product-to-pack ratio, minimizing excess material and enhancing consumer engagement. The packaging is made entirely from FSC-certified mono-material cartonboard—the outer packaging uses MetsäBoard Prime FBB Bright 380 g/m², while the inner boxes use MetsäBoard Pro FBB Bright 220 g/m². The design balances aesthetics and sustainability, incorporating translucent holographic foil and 3D embossing for a festive shimmer, while maintaining full recyclability and compliance with EU Packaging regulations. Its flat-pack delivery reduces transportation emissions, reinforcing Lumene’s commitment to eco-friendly packaging solutions.
