Kruger Invests $16M to Develop Circular Economy Hub in Trois-Rivières
Kruger Recycling is investing $16 million to consolidate its collection and storage operations at a new site in Trois-Rivières, Québec, positioning the city as a major circular economy hub. The new facility, spanning one million square feet, will support stable fiber supply for Kruger’s Containerboard Mill, Québec’s leading paper and paperboard recycler. This strategic consolidation will reduce transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions by centralizing material collection from Mauricie, other Québec regions, eastern Ontario, and northern U.S. areas. Kruger, a pioneer in 100% recycled containerboard manufacturing since the 1960s, recycles 450,000 tonnes of paper and old corrugated containers annually through the Trois-Rivières mill. The investment complements Kruger’s vertically integrated operations and commitment to sustainable business practices, reinforcing its leadership in pulp and paper recycling in North America. The company operates multiple recovery and sorting centers and continuously modernizes its operations to advance eco-friendly packaging solutions.
